Application Process

We seek students who will contribute in a positive way to the life of the school and benefit significantly from the unique environment the school provides. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, origin, ancestry, physical disability or sexual orientation. Nor do we deny admission to applicants whose families cannot afford tuition.

Our primary goal for admission is to offer enrollment to students who will thrive at the Sun Valley Ski Academy. In considering an application, the Admission Committee considers a variety of factors. Foremost is the ability and desire of the applicant and his or her family to support the mission and philosophy of the program. Other factors include, but are not limited to, a student’s academic transcripts, teacher evaluations, standardized testing, classroom visits and developmental assessments, personal interests and talents, and qualities of character, motivation and attitude. We also consider the school’s and the family’s mutual understanding of the educational goals for the applicant. The Admission Committee’s focus is to find the right match between the applicant and the school.

SVSA is currently accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. Please contact Program Director Jonna Mendes for more information about space availability and application details.

The deadline for applying is February 25, 2017, but we continue to accept applications on a rolling admission basis after our application deadline.

Prospective students should complete a Sun Valley Ski Academy application and must also register with the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation upon acceptance into the program. Students are required to take the SSAT test.

Testing

SSAT (Applicants for grades Six through Twelve)
We require all Middle and Upper School applicants to take the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). In order to meet our February 24 application deadline, students must take the November, December, January, or February test. We administer the SSAT on the Community School campus on the Saturday mornings listed below. Students should arrive by 8:15 a.m. and will be done with the test by noon.

Applicants need to pre-register for the SSAT. The $120 is paid directly to SSAT when you register. SSAT charges an additional $40 fee for late registration, so please pay close attention to the registration deadline. We will include SSAT registration information in your Application Packet. The preferred way to register for the test is online at www.ssat.org. Our Test Center Code at Community School is 2547; in order for us to receive your child’s test results, you must enter this code in the appropriate place when you register.

Results of the ISEE may also be submitted. Applicants for the 11th and 12th grades may submit PSAT or SAT scores.
